We would like to announce that University of Latvia SPIE Student
Chapter
organises International student conference on Developments in Optics
and Photonics. The conference will take place in Riga, Latvia on 30
April – 1
May 2005
The main topics:
Developments in optics and photonics related to atomic and
molecular
spectroscopy, material sciences and nanotechnologies, medicine,
environmental
pollution measurements, etc. We encourage to participate Master and PhD
students to report their results in these research fields. The working
language
will be English.
Scope:
Developments in optics and photonics are topics of interest for
numerous
areas of applications. The conference brings together young scientists
(students) working experimentally and theoretically in the fields of
optics and
photonics to share and exchange new ideas and to establish contacts for
future
collaboration.
The conference will start with registration on Friday, April 29
and will
continue till Sunday afternoon, May 1.
The participants are expected to give a brief talk (up to 20 min)
and/or
to present posters on their topics.
Conference site:
The conference will be held at University of Latvia (Raina blvd. 19) in the
central
building in the centre of Riga (about 20 min by bus from the airport
“Riga”).

Registration fees:
For students from EU countries: 50 EUR
For students from Ukraine, Russia and Byelorussia: 20 EUR For
students
from Latvia: 10 EUR
