Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy
(IAPS) at University of Latvia performs internationally
recognised fundamental and applied research in atomic
physics, spectroscopy, photonics and related areas. New
optical methods and devices for applications in
industry, medicine and environmental monitoring are
being developed, as well. High quality of the research
is assured by 11 physics doctors, 5 PhD candidates and
19 bachelor, master and doctoral students who are
involved in the IASP projects.
The Institute has been supported by European Commission
as
a centre of excellence of fundamental and applied
research. Active international scientific
collaboration is facilitated by
International Society of Applied Optics, Latvian
Section of the Optical Society of America (OSA), and
Latvian Regional Committee of International Commission
for Optics (ICO), all acting under the IAPS umbrella. |
